Configuration Examples

Up to 254 EnTRAX, MAX, PROX+, TRAX+, IOX terminals can be supported by a P.C. simultaneously and in any combination using an RS485/232 line adapter, telephone cable, and the NET92 communications protocol.
The fast transmission rate of 57600 bps ensures a transaction time of less than a second in most situations.

Note: in all the figures the NET92 lines are shown originating from an adapter and connecting all the terminals in a bus. As the adapter is an RS485 device like the terminals, it can be installed in any position along the line, even in the middle. Each RS485/NET92 line can be up to 1.2 km. long, and can support up to 31 terminals.

1. Up to 5 terminals on a max. 100 m long line
Using a 985 MicroLD it is possible to create a small, low cost network over limited distances and in environments with low electromagnetic interference

2. Up to 62 terminals on 2 lines of max. 1200 m each
The 981 PSLD/3 Power Supply and Line Adapter provides 2 optoinsulated lines. The unit can also power several terminals, the actual number depends on the terminal model and the distance. An intelligent version of the unit, the PSLD /3I, is also available and makes it possible for any computer with ASCII protocol to support a NET92 network.

Up to 62 terminals on 4 lines of up to max. 600 m. each This is a variation of the previous configuration. All the intermediate solutions are also possible.

3. Up to 254 terminals on up to 4800 m long lines using repeaters.
The 981 PSLD/3 can be used as a repeater to extend the total line length up to 4800 m. Because of its optoinsulated lines this unit is also used to electrically partition a complex cabling system in order to increase its robustness. In addition each unit can power a certain number of terminals.

4. Unlimited terminals controlled through a LAN or the Internet
Using EtherLite interfaces, NET92 terminals can now be managed by your PC via a LAN or WAN (Local or Wide Area Network), or even via the Internet.
The EtherLite uses TCP/IP protocol.
Each EtherLite can logically control up to 31 terminals. Using several EtherLites, a single PC can manage an unlimited number of terminals.
